PORCELLANE NUOVA TRIADE
In 1953, three young ceramists decided to take advantage
of the experience gained in the ceramic laboratories and
created their own production, characterized by shapes
that adhere to tradition. Three friends that shared the
same passion for earth, water, and fire (the three elements
of creation and porcelain) gave therefore birth to TRIADE.
Finely moulded figures and groups in white and coated
biscuit porcelain are the early creations, which subsequently
evolved with the use of decoration and hand-painting with
pastel colours. Two partners (Perdomello and Benacchio)
left the company in 1986 due to health reasons, and Giorgio
Basso, the remaining partner, went on developing the production
until he retired in 1997, handing the company to his sons
Laura and Sergio, who are the present owners. An heritage
of models and artistic skills has been and is key to the
success that TRIADE creations are still meeting today.
THE PRODUCTION OF PORCELAIN
Porcelain was first manufactured in China during the T'ang
dynasty (618-907) and reached Europe through the routes
of the merchants that followed Marco Polo. For many centuries,
people tried to reproduce it but its "recipe" remained
a mystery until the secrets of porcelain, or "white gold"
as it was called, were eventually revealed in the early
eighteenth century. In 1710, August II of Saxonia established
the first factory in his Albrechtsburg castle in Messen
on the Elba river. Although the production technique was
kept secret, other manufacture factories soon appeared
in Vienna (1719), then in Berlin, Madrid, Sévres, Venice,
and Naples.
